Lapwing birdsong cushion (large)
Designed and handwoven by Lynne Hocking-Mennie of Lynne’s Loom.
This product has guaranteed UK Christmas shipping if you order by 17/12/2020.
Made in Aberdeen.
This is a one-off item (although smaller sizes are available).
This cushion is 45 x 45 cm, handwoven in 100% lambswool spun in Scotland (blueberry purple and silver grey), and filled with a duck feather-filled cushion pad.
The pattern on the front of this cushion is inspired by the spectrograph of a lapwing trilling in the machair of North Uist. A spectrograph is a way of visualising changes in pitch and intensity of sound over time, and the lapwing spectrograph was converted into a weaving pattern. The pattern that is created in the handwoven fabric reflects the original spectrograph, letting you “see” the sound of the birdsong. The back of the cushion is unpatterned.
Surface clean only.
